9to5, National Association of Working Women seeks an experienced organizer to help grow our base and visibility online. The Online Organizer will coordinate and evaluate e-mail action alerts and other online tools, and integrate these strategies with 9to5’s organizing campaigns.

9to5 is a grassroots membership organization, founded in 1973, which engages directly affected women to improve working conditions. Our goals are to build leadership among low income working women and to win improvements in workplace and public policies. Current campaigns focus on paid sick days, expanding family and medical leave, pay equity and anti-discrimination.

Responsibilities and duties:

Coordinate and implement 9to5’s online outreach:
o Compose first drafts of outbound action alert emails, working with lead organizer in 9to5’s 4 staffed offices;
o Work with other staff to integrate e-mail communications with organizing campaigns and plan communications strategically;
o Assist Development Director with online/email fundraising plan and activities;
o Engage 9to5 members, constituents and new allies in online activities, working in conjunction with 9to5 organizing staff;
o Work with 9to5 organizing staff to coordinate appropriate follow-up communications with online activists, and recruit new members via online activities;
o Help develop a consistent, recognizable message and look for the organization.

Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of 9to5’s online communications strategy:
o Analyze e-mail responses, effectiveness of e-mail action alerts, and recommend solutions;
o Work with other staff to set goals for growth, evaluate results, and incorporate learnings;
o Develop and implement internal systems for online tools as needed; help coordinate and regulate number, type of messages, actions sent, who is receiving them.
o Assist with staff training in action alert and other online tools;
o Assist with implementation of technology plan.

Maintain, create and update content for 9to5’s website:
o Work as a team with Communications Coordinator to create content for www.9to5.org;
o Maintain and update website content, and oversee/assist chapter organizers with maintaining content for chapter sub-sites;
o Research, design and implement a strategy for search engine optimization;
o Monitor, test, and solicit feedback to improve the online user experience, website content and services;
o Maintain editorial consistency and web style guidelines;
o Produce and analyze website traffic reports to share with staff;
o Respond to website inquiries and information requests, and oversee those who assist in those efforts;
o Design and edit graphics and photos as needed.

Perform other duties as necessary and assist with special projects when requested.

Qualifications:
• At least one year experience managing online organizing or advocacy campaigns.
• At least one year experience using a web-based constituent relationship management system.
• At least two years organizing experience with a community, labor or women’s organization.
• Ability to work independently. Good planning skills, time management, ability to prioritize work and account for results.
• Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse populations.
• At least two years of writing/editing experience, preferably for a non-profit organization.
• Strong organizational and communication (both written and oral) skills.
• Ability to multitask and shift priorities; ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Proficiency with databases, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; willingness to learn other software the organization utilizes.

Details:
Full-time (40 hours/week); base salary mid $30’s; based in 9to5’s Atlanta, GA office. Strong candidates in Milwaukee, Denver and Los Angeles will also be considered.
