This broad ranging, interactive workshop will provide you with information, tools and strategies needed to pursue a meaningful, sustainable and well-compensated career in the nonprofit sector. We will focus on areas such as defining your personal mission, conducting a skills inventory and mapping your core competencies, pursing professional development and graduate opportunities, leveraging networking and mentoring strategies, moving up within your organization and/or moving on to a new opportunity. We will also explore how to determine your “market worth” and negotiate a fair compensation package within an ever-tightening environment.

Presented by: James Weinberg is the Founder & CEO of Commongood Careers, a national search firm dedicated to enabling innovative nonprofits to build strong organizations through the recruitment, retention and development of outstanding talent at every level. Commongood Careers also has a mission to address talent-related issues throughout the sector and to support socially-driven jobseekers in pursuing nonprofit careers. Previously, James served as the National Development Director at BELL and as the Executive Director of the Homeless Children’s Education Fund. James has a master’s degree in Management & Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon, a BA in Psychology from Tufts, and was a Coro Fellow in Public Affairs. He is the vice-chair of the Nonprofit Workforce Coalition, a steering committee member of the Next Generation Leadership Forum, and a board member of Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy.
