As Director, Communications Marketing at The Humane Society of the United States, Carie is responsible for the social media strategy for the nation’s largest and most powerful animal protection organization. As media is constantly changing, a large part of Carie’s responsibilities include evaluating new online trends and figuring out how to prepare the organization for the changes in technology, media, and communications. Carie is an active member of the Nonprofit Technology Network (NTEN), and has been interviewed for articles on The Chronicle of Philanthropy, Fundraising Success Magazine, and The Nonprofit Times. Her efforts have led The HSUS to be recognized by leading publications such as: Best Promotion of Social Media Efforts by a Big Brand by Fast Company, Best Use of Facebook Tools by Mashable, and One of the Top 20 Nonprofits on Twitter by The Huffington Post. At the 2012 Nonprofit Technology Conference, she received the inaugural Trailblazer Award for her groundbreaking work in the field of nonprofit social media. She is a frequent speaker on the subject of social media strategy, which is her passion. As Director of Partnerships & Programs for the Center for Innovation & Social Impact at 92Y, Kait helps to develop and scale innovative programming across all of 92Y¹s multi-disciplinary areas. One such initiative is #GivingTuesday, a national day of giving on the heels of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. In its third year, the #GivingTuesday movement united nearly 30,000 corporate and nonprofit partners in the U.S. and around the world. Kait manages operations and partner outreach for #GivingTuesday, and helps curate the educational program. She also is on the programming team for the annual Social Good Summit, a two-day event hosted in partnership with the UN Foundation, UNDP, and Mashable, and is working on launching a new fellowship program at 92Y for rising female leaders. Before joining the Center for Innovation, Kait worked in Development at 92Y, The New York Botanical Garden, and Oxford University.
