On to New Adventures

I ended up at NTEN by accident. I was brought on board to help with the 2009 Nonprofit Technology conference when I returned to Portland after dropping out of a graduate program that wasn't a good fit and came at the wrong time. NTEN turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made.

I can't count the number of times I've told people how fortunate I am to be the Community Manager for such a passionate, engaged, and fun community. Sometimes accidents change your life for the better; working at NTEN, with this amazing community, has changed my life for the best.

My work here has challenged and inspired me. It has also motivated me to create a career path, to stick to it, and to fully accept my lot in life as an accidental techie. After four fantastic years with NTEN, I've made the decision to move on and have accepted a position with PwC Advisory in Austin, TX. In my new role, I'll be putting my social listening and community engagement skills to use as a consultant. I'm thrilled to be joining the team there, and equally broken hearted to be leaving the fantastic staff at NTEN.

I've often found myself describing NTEN as the community itself: you all are the teachers, the doers, the makers; those of us on staff help facilitate the spread of your knowledge. I plan to remain an active and vibrant part of the NTEN community. I can't wait to share the new things that I learn, and I know I will continue to learn from all of you.

My last official day at NTEN will be Friday, November 23rd. Amy is diligently searching for my replacement (apply here) and will be happy to answer any questions about Tech Clubs, CoPs, NTEN Social Media, or NTC community events in the meantime.

I will head into Thanksgiving this year with so very much to be grateful for. Thank you all for being a part of my journey.
