There's been a flurry of activity lately in the NTEN community and it's easy to see that change is in the air! Ushering out those dog days of summer is some exciting news from around the sector; from acquisitions and survey results to emerging leaders, there is no shortage of fresh perspectives this week. Check out what your fellow NTENers have been up to and tap into the energy that comes from a little industry shake-up.

Some big news with a business tilt: we learned that NTEN member Advanced Solutions International (ASI) acquired online community solutions-focused software company GoLightly, Inc. ASI is a global web-based software provider for member and donor-based nonprofits. ASI's CEO Bob Alves called the acquisition, "a great strategic fit". Also celebrating is member organization FirstGiving, which was acquired by FrontStream Payments, a provider of payment and donor management products. States Karsten Robbins, FirstGiving's CEO, "Together, we can offer an end-to-end fundraising and donor management solution to nonprofits, supporters and API partners that combines the latest donor-facing and administrative tools into one simple to configure and very affordable package."
In other news, results from a recent survey of 1000 nonprofits by NTEN member Constant Contact reveals positive changes in the sector over the last year, including many reports of funding increases. Not surprisingly, one of the highest reported challenges facing nonprofits is harnessing the potential of social media marketing. Congratulations are in order for our friends at Care2--after 14 years, 425 million member actions, and $150 million in donations, the organization announced that their 20 millionth member joined earlier this week. Read the blog post expressing gratitude to all those members and learn more about Care2's work and achievements.
It's hard not to brag when four of our members are featured in an article entitled "5 Great 20-Something Social Good Community Managers", which seeks to prove how young people can succeed in the role of community manager at nonprofit organizations. NTEN superstars who made the list include Carie Lewis, Director of Emerging Media at the Humane Society of the United States; Danielle Brigida, Digital Marketing Manager at the National Wildlife Federation; Gloria Huang, Senior Social Engagement Strategist at the American Red Cross; and NTEN's own Membership Director, Amy Sample Ward.
Speaking of leaders, check out the Nonprofit Quarterly's interview with Jacob Harold, incoming CEO of Guidestar: "Changing of the Guard at Guidestar: A Conversation with Incoming CEO Jacob Harold". NPQ Editor in Chief Ruth McCambridge delves into Jacob's mind to understand his motivations and thoughts on the eve of this exciting transition.

Firefly Partners specializes in web design for small to medium-sized nonprofit organizations.
