How Twitter Makes Vegetarians Happy at the #10NTC

Since we first used Twitter at the 2007 NTC in Washington DC, it has exploded into the public consciousness. Still, we get lots of pushback from folks who wonder what use it is to know what all their friends are, say, HAVING FOR LUNCH. We're not making that up; I get that one all the time.

It's true: there's a lot of random chatter on Twitter. But the fine folks at the Omni know that sometimes, it's good to know what folks are having for lunch. Case in point:

That's right, the vegetarians in the crowd hated the lunch on Friday at the #10NTC -- and they let us know about it on Twitter.

Here's where the story gets good. Not only were the NTEN crew listening and letting the Omni staff know what you thought, it turns out the folks at Omni corporate were listening, as well. Our on-site event manager, Angela, got an email that afternoon, with a summary of the tweets about that awful lunch and a directive not to let it happen again!

So, sometimes it does pay to know what your Twitter brethren are having for lunch. (And in our defense, we thought you were going to get vegetable risotto, not steamed rice and veggies.  Sorry about that.)
