Ed. Note: As we prepare for the 2010 Nonprofit Technology Conference, we wanted share a wee bit of the wisdom our speakers will be serving up, so as not to overwhelm you when you get to Atlanta. We're asking them all to share their answers to five very important questions.
Speaker: Jacey Tramutt, Peak Parent Center
Session: Are you Sending the Message, “We Don’t Need You?” Ending Segregation and Tapping the Power of Diversity Through Technology In Your Nonprofit
1. What's the most important trend in nonprofit technology for 2010?
Figuring out how to make technology not a separate issue, but rather how to infuse it into everything we do -- outreach, data management, content delivery, etc.
2. Why do you think your session topic is important for nonprofits to address?
People with disabilities and other diverse groups are often overlooked as employees and as constituents because of fear, lack of knowledge, and misperceptions. We hope our session will help nonprofits understand the power and benefits diverse populations have to offer their organizations in terms of enriching their staff and expanding the number of people they can reach with their mission.
3. What's the one thing you want attendees to remember from your session?
Diversity is a strong, strong asset to any organization with any mission.
4. Which Muppet do you most identify with and why?
Janice, the lead guitar player in the Electric Mayhem on The Muppet Show. Because, quite simply, she rocks!
5. Where can people follow you online (twitter, blog, etc.)?
