Flickr: forumoneFlickr: forumoneAmy Sample Ward wrote in the Stanford Social Innovation Review about community building and the gardening metaphor. Maybe you've heard the gardening metaphor before, but have you heard about landscaping? You should read her article to find out what NOT to do with your community.

NTENny winner and general NTEN rock star Peter Campbell has a great run-down of the various nonprofit technology related extra-curricular work he's doing -- and by work, I mean the resources he's building and sharing with other nptechies. You should check out his dance card.

In general, I recommend you read (and subscribe to) Beth Kanter's blog on social media for nonprofits, but here's a post you should really check out. She did some analysis of the 90+ Foundations using Twitter to communicate. If you've been looking for examples and tips on appropriate voice and strategy, this post is gold.

If you're a member or receive our monthly NTEN Connect newsletter, you've probably already heard about (and perhaps participated in) our site re-design. The folks at Beaconfire are graciously and masterfully guiding this project for us, and they're documenting the process on their blog to share tips and ideas with, well, you. You can see the latest here.

And, finally, in case you haven't heard already, NTEN's Executive Director, Holly Ross, was named one of the Nonprofit Times Power & Influence Top 50! (Don't worry, we're not letting it go to her head too much around the office).

We're also proud of the other NTEN members represented among the 2009 class of 50 honored executives, including: American Cancer Society, American Promise Alliance, The Atlantic Philanthropies, The Case Foundation, Girl Scouts of the USA, Humane Society of the US, Independent Sector, The John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the Lance Armstrong Foundation, Lutheran Services in America, The Salvation Army, United Way of America, Volunteers of America, and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
