Here are some of the news items and activities involving NTEN members I came across online this week:
The Chronicle of Philanthropy is hosting an encore online discussion panel next Tuesday, the 23rd, with superstars Nancy Schwartz, Danielle Brigida, and Wendy Harman, on the topic of nonprofit groups using online social networks -- and how these channels complement traditional marketing.
Feeding America has launched a Causes campaign, sponsored by Kellogg's. It's not your typical Cause campaign, though: Kellogg's will make a matching donation of 15% of ALL donations made to Facebook Causes between midnight June 18th and midnight June 19th to Feeding America. You can give all your friends birthday donations, plus a dollar here and there to your other favorite causes using the Facebook app, and you'll be simultaneously helping to raise money for Feeding America. Pretty cool, eh? (Oh, and Causes is an NTEN member, too!)
Blackbaud is among the "Ten Best Web Support Sites" awarded by the Association of Support Professionals this week. We're especially proud to hear what they said about Blackbaud as a small company: "The big news this year is the number of smaller companies that have developed world-class support sites." Way to be world-class, Blackbaud!
Wiley is donating books to Mashable's #Stories4Good contest, a social media for social good initiative. You're invited to submit your stories about how social media was used for good causes. Be sure to read the directions for how to submit -- there are multiple social media steps!
Our friends across the pond at LASA had their 2009 Ciruit Riders Conference last week. You can see their Flickr photostream or available sessions slides via SlideShare. I saw this photo from NTEN member Marc Osten, and thought I'd include it as an "image of the week" for us:
