Rusty Burwell, American Lung Association
Rusty currently serves as Vice President, Data and Technology at the national headquarters of the American Lung Association in New York. His ALA career started with the Mississippi Lung Association as a Field Representative in 1983. He worked in a number of fundraising capacities at the national level starting in 1987 and moved to New York in 1992. In September 2006, he took his current position responsible for IT operations at ALA, the nationwide database operations center in Henderson, NV, all online/web operations and other nationwide technology projects such as the centralized Sage MIP accounting system, Convio/GetActive e-advocacy system and the performance based management system through Social Solutions’ ETO online software.
Tom Krackeler, Convio
Tom Krackeler has spent the last 10 years developing web technology that enables nonprofits to acquire, engage, and retain supporters online. Tom is currently at Convio as Vice President of the Common Ground product line, a nonprofit constituent relationship management solution that Convio built on the Force.com platform from Salesforce.com. Tom joined Convio in 2007 and has also served as Vice President of Product Management where he was responsible for product strategy and planning. Prior to joining Convio, Tom was Senior Vice President of Products at GetActive Software, where he oversaw the company's engineering, product management, and user experience teams. Before GetActive, Tom worked in the nonprofit sector at the Environmental Defense Fund and as a consultant with Accenture. Tom has a BA in Political Science and Philosophy from Duke University and an MPP in Public Policy from UC Berkeley.
Steve MacLaughlin, Blackbaud
Steve MacLaughlin is the Director of Internet Solutions at Blackbaud and is responsible for leading how the company provides online solutions for its clients. Steve has spent more than 12 years building successful online initiatives with a broad range of Fortune 500 firms, government and educational institutions, and nonprofit organizations. He is a frequent speaker and highly regarded presenter at several nonprofit conferences and events. Steve earned both his undergraduate degree and a Master of Science degree in Interactive Media from Indiana University.
Nancy Schwartz, Nancy Schwartz & Company
Nancy E. Schwartz, president of Nancy Schwartz & Company (NS&C), designs and implements marketing and communications programs to help nonprofit and foundation clients nationwide to maximize their impact. Combining strategic perspective, practical vision and a broad range of technical skills, Nancy provides her clients with innovative approaches to meeting their goals. She shares her expertise in nonprofit marketing and communications via the Getting Attention e-newsletter and blog, as a frequent conference speaker, and as a volunteer trainer at New York City's Support Center for Nonprofit Management. Nancy earned her BA in Comparative Literature at Brown University and her MBA in Marketing and Management at New York University’s Stern School of Business.
