Life is What Happens When You're on an Airplane

A few big things happened yesterday, but I spent most of it on airplanes. As it's currently 4:30 am, according to my body, I'm going to cop out and just give you guys a bunch of links to keep my daily blogging streak alive.

Here's the stuff I wish I had the wherewithal to write about today:

Blackbaud completes its acquisition of Kintera. The deal is done. Steve MacLaughlin, Blackbaud's Director of Internet Solutions, has a summary of some key points on his blog. Everything we expected to hear is there, but I imagine it will be some time before we really start to see how things shake out. Remember, they posted this on a blog, so please be sure to share your questions and comments. I know Steve will want to address them.

Microsoft launches an NGO portal. I did a quick Twitter poll yesterday to take the temperature of our community about Microsoft's new international NGO effort. Some of you are especially excited to see that the site will be available in multiple languages; for those of you working internationally, this may be a good resource, indeed. Others are less impressed with the effort. I'm personally glad to see so many case studies on the site, though I wish they ALL went a lot deeper.

It's official: The mobile web matters. 40 million Americans use their phones to access the web now, according to this BBC story. Have you started planning your mobile strategy yet? If not, check out our last newsletter. It's chock full of good stuff! (Oh, and if you don't receive it already, you know you really want to subscribe for free.)

What else did I miss while I was stuck in a metal tube hurtling through time and space?

Great job at the convening, Holly. I enjoyed your presentation and talking with you about the technology tools NTEN uses. Thanks!
