The Internet as...a Lava Lamp?
The Gilbert Center turns 10 this year, and to celebrate its contributions to the field of nonprofit technology, Gavin Clabaugh, an NTEN board member emritus, takes us back through ten years of internet history (100 years of real time history with a nod to Marquez) and peeks forward to see what the next 10 have in store for us. Along the way Gavin tells us how the internet is like a lava lamp, and how ownership, identity, trust, privacy and community will shape the future of online communications.
Take a moment to visit Gavin’s Digital Diner to ponder the past and future of the internet. As an added bonus Gavin lets slip that he’s willing to work in exchange for some good Chinese take-out. And say "Happy Birthday" to the Gilbert Center (Michael Gilbert is another NTEN board member emeritus).
