NTC Blogging Roundup
"The old forms are in ruins. The benumbed world is shaken up, the old human spirit is invalidated and in flux towards a new form."
Over the weekend, I went to the Corcoran Museum in DC and found this quote by the founder of the Bauhaus Movement in architecture, Walter Gropius. I think it beautifully captures the spirit of this year's NTC. The nonprofit technology community is in flux towards a new form: becoming more accessible and inviting; having constructive and higher level conversations; celebrating our work; expanding the networks; flushing out the buzz from the bullet-proof; pushing and challenging technology assumptions and our business processes; and having a lot of fun while were at it. I was told by a Silicon Valley old skooler who attended for the first time that the NTC wasn't just a good nonprofit conference, but a great technology conference...period.
And its our community that is affirming this assessment. Scores of bloggers, podcasters, photographers, vloggers, and even a bleeding-edge crowd of Twitterers (is that an adjective yet?) posted and tagged their experiences and thoughts, creating an amazing collective historical record of the largest NPTech gathering to date. Not only is the scope of content impressive, but also is the breadth of experiences. NTC veterans and neophytes alike shared their stories and perspectives that I imagine will only continue to improve future NTCs.
It is too that end that I propose a challenge to us all to write and post anywhere (personal blogs, listservs, NTEN Affinity Groups) our take aways, constructive feedback, and follow-through commitments to help NTEN keep making continuous improvements to this great event.
Below are some highlights from the conference. Please feel free to add others in the comments.
