In the past few months we've talked a lot about the importance of data integration, and many of you voiced your frustrations that your systems don't talk to each other and work together. We even hosted the Great Open API Debate to hear where some nonprofit software vendors stood on the issue.
What we discovered wasn't groundbreaking - you want data integration because it will make your jobs easier and it will save you and your organization time, money, and your sanity (really, who wants to do more data entry than they need to?). Now there's a way you can show your support for data integration and hopefully spur some action - sign the Integration Proclamation!
The goal of the Integration Proclamation is to get lots of people to sign the petition and than use it to urge funder, vendors, and developers to start working on a solution. The idea came out of a session at RootsCamp DC last month when a bunch of techies and progressive campaign staffers got together and realized that the lack of data integration was a huge headache for all of them - and for their cause.
We'll be publishing a white paper in the very near future that discusses the importance of open apis and interoperability and describes one way to integrate your data, so keep you eyes pealed for it.
