Things We Like (August 2013)

A monthly roundup of our favorite nonprofit tech resources and other goodies.

  1. Like machine learning? Data mining? Check out The Shape of Data, but if you like math you could lose hours here.
  2. Have you ever stuck with a decision just to see it through, even though it might have been a bad choice? It’s okay to walk away from our bad decisions.
  3. You know that little voice in your head telling you you’re not good enough? Jay Smooth has some advice on how to beat that voice, and get back to being awesome.
  4. Sixty seconds doesn’t seem like much, but a lot happens on the internet in sixty seconds.
  5. Everyone loves ice cream, right? Did you know that your favorite flavor tells a little something about your personality?
  6. Working at nonprofits, we face a lot of challenges. Thankfully, we can laugh about them.
  7. Wondering how to become internet famous? Mashable drew back the curtain on internet fame and parody Twitter accounts.
  8. We’re hard at work looking for great things to bring to #14NTC, but unfortunately The Amazing Acro-Cats were booked somewhere else.
  9. Cats probably make up 51% of the content on the internet, but what would it look like if cats ran the internet?
  10. Planning a vacation soon? Why not head over to Scotland for the largest gathering of Golden Retrievers (and their owners), the Guisachan Gathering!
